Access To Boardwalks And Beaches

Protected Beaches
The Wildwood Crest Beach Patrol was established in 1914 with the purpose to provide the most competent Lifeguarding services possible to the public. The Wildwood Crest Beach Patrol has a reputation for excellence and preventative lifeguarding. On any given day the patrol has 56 lifeguards, 6 supervising lieutenants, and 2 medical personnel; during the busy season, the beach patrol will have approximately 28 lifeguard chairs at the water’s edge.
Lifeguard Coverage is 10:00am – 5:30pm. Saturdays and Sundays (and Memorial Day) from the last weekend in May until mid-June and then daily from mid-June through Labor Day weekend on all Wildwood Crest beaches. Some beaches will be protected from Tuesday through Friday during the week after Labor Day weekend. All beaches are protected on the weekend after Labor Day weekend.
Surfing Only beaches are permitted at Hollywood Avenue (10 am-12 noon only), Rambler Road and Aster Road.
Surf Chairs
FREE beach wheel chairs are available at the WCBP headquarters located at Rambler Road and the beach. Wheelchair rentals begin at 10 am and must be returned by 5 pm.
Beach Vehicle Permits
In Wildwood Crest, Vehicle access is permitted from October 1st to April 30th. Contact the local police department or city administration offices for the latest information, as beach access can change due to factors like reduced space, weather conditions, or updated regulations. It’s crucial to double-check before you head out. You may need permits, and there could be fees for most, if not all, of these beaches. Ensure you know what you need and how much it costs before your visit.

Wildwood Crest Beach, known for its expansive sandy shores and family-friendly atmosphere, enforces several regulations to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors. Kite flying, ball playing, Frisbees, etc., are restricted to the back areas of the beach. Swimming is permitted only in designated areas where lifeguards are on duty, typically from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Alcohol consumption and smoking are prohibited on the beach to maintain a clean and safe environment. Additionally, dogs are only allowed on the beach during the off-season, from October through April, and must be leashed. Beachgoers are required to dispose of their trash properly, with numerous receptacles available for convenience. Certain activities, such as bonfires and fireworks, are not allowed without special permits. These regulations help preserve the beach’s pristine condition and ensure a pleasant experience for everyone. In short, no animals, alcohol, fires, barbecues, or picnics are permitted on Wildwood Crest’s beaches. Surf fishing is prohibited in bathing areas during bathing hours.
