The Wildwoods FREE beaches, named ‘Best Beaches in New Jersey’ more than once, offer anything a beachgoer can ask for. Everything from surfing to boogie-boarding to body surfing; playing beach volleyball, building a sandcastle or taking a long walk. Framed by the iconic Wildwood boardwalk, adorned with exciting amusement rides and bustling eateries, the Wildwood beach serves as a playground for both locals and visitors alike.

Wildwood beach is a FREE beach with no beach tags required. Beaches are accessible at all street ends.

Protected Beaches

The Wildwood Beach Patrol will kick off the beach season over Memorial Day weekend. Lifeguard protection is 10:00am – 5:30pm. Saturdays and Sundays (and Memorial Day) from the last weekend in May until mid-June and then daily from mid-June through Labor Day weekend on all Wildwood beaches.

Surfing Only beaches are permitted at Andrews Avenue.

Access To Boardwalks And Beaches

Handicap transport is available for those in need and should contact 609-522-8258 for more information. Access ramps from the boardwalk to beach at Cresse, Rio Grande, Andrews, Spicer, Schellenger, Maple and Juniper Avenues. Any questions regarding beach access please call Wildwood Beach Patrol. Surf Chairs are available for FREE at Wildwood Beach Patrol Headquarters at Lincoln Ave and Ocean and at Baker Avenue Beach Parking. ADA accessible restrooms are available at Glenwood, Youngs, and Leaming Aves. At Schellenger Ave (beach level), there is a ramp from boardwalk to beach and comfort station. Accessible portable restrooms are located on the beach every few blocks. Beach Taxi services are also available which operate the entire length and width of the beach. Permanent restrooms are located at Glenwood, Youngs, Leaming, and Schellenger Ave. Portable restrooms are located on the beach every few blocks.

Beach Vehicle Permits

Driving on the beach is strictly prohibited without permits. Permits may be obtained through the City Clerk’s Office. These permits are approved on a case-by-case basis.

Important Wildwood Beach Regulations

Wildwood Beach, known for its expansive sandy shores and family-friendly atmosphere, enforces several regulations to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors. Swimming is permitted only in designated areas where lifeguards are on duty, typically from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Alcohol consumption and smoking are prohibited on the beach to maintain a clean and safe environment. Additionally, dogs are only allowed on the beach during the off-season, from October through April, and must be leashed. Dogs are not allowed on the Boardwalk at any time. There are Dog Beaches at Glenwood Avenue and 24th Avenue. Beachgoers are required to dispose of their trash properly, with numerous receptacles available for convenience. Certain activities, such as bonfires and fireworks, are not allowed without special permits. These regulations help preserve the beach’s pristine condition and ensure a pleasant experience for everyone.
