Planning a trip to the Jersey Shore and looking to do more than just hit the beach? New Jersey’s coastline is home to some of the best water parks on the East Coast — from oceanfront boardwalk parks in Wildwood to a year-round indoor giant in Atlantic City. Whether your crew is chasing adrenaline-pumping slides, looking for a lazy river float, or wrangling toddlers through a kiddie splash zone, there’s a water park here for you.
We’ve compiled this updated 2026 guide with everything you need: park highlights, family-friendly features, cabana options, seasonal hours notes, and addresses.
Quick Navigation — Jump to a Park
1. Thundering Surf Waterpark
Long Beach Island · Beach Haven
Thundering Surf holds a distinction no other park on the Jersey Shore can claim: it’s recognized as the longest continuously operating water park in the world, having opened in 1977. What started with four concrete slides has grown into a full-day destination featuring six tube slides and a mat-racing slide.
The Lazy, Crazy River keeps things interesting with two-foot waves every 60 seconds — so your float is anything but boring. Competitive families gravitate toward Rainbow Rapids, where four mat-racing lanes let you see who’s really the fastest. The Flow Rider Double brings the bodyboarding experience to LBI. Younger kids have their own dedicated world at Cowabunga Kids, complete with slides, tipping buckets, and water pumps, while toddlers get foam slides and floor jets in a separate area designed just for them.
Three concession stands and a cabana option — accommodating up to eight people with lounge chairs, tables, complimentary water bottles, and table service — make it easy to spend an entire day here without leaving the park. Over 45 years of family fun and still going strong.
Address: Bay & Taylor Avenues, Long Beach Island, Beach Haven, NJ 08008
Phone: 609-492-0869 · Season: Late May – Labor Day
2. Morey’s Piers: Raging Waters
Wildwood Boardwalk · Morey’s Piers
One of two water parks at the legendary Morey’s Piers complex on the Wildwood boardwalk, Raging Waters is a multi-level tropical paradise that’s been delighting South Jersey families for decades. Your admission covers both Raging Waters and Ocean Oasis — a tremendous value for a full day of water park hopping.
Thrill-seekers can race down 40-foot speed slides, load into a raft for the Rocket Raft Run with friends, or plunge six feet at Shotgun Falls. If you’d rather take it easy, the Sky Pond Journey floats you through four elevated pools on a tube — with rides visible all around you. The giant lazy river is dotted with geysers, waterfalls, and a grotto. There’s also a massive activity pool, a fountain pool, a rope swing, and a pirate ship playground that younger kids love.
Cabana rentals offer a shaded escape with food and beverage service (additional cost). Past visitors consistently praise the park’s options for young children and the quality of its food.
Address: 3501 Boardwalk (Mariners Landing Pier), Wildwood, NJ 08260
Season: Summer only (Memorial Day weekend – Labor Day) · Admission includes Ocean Oasis
3. Morey’s Piers: Ocean Oasis
Wildwood Boardwalk · Morey’s Piers
The second water park at Morey’s Piers sits at the end of Surfside Pier and brings a different energy from Raging Waters — more Beach Club than boardwalk, with private cabanas arranged around fire pits and a tropical atmosphere that feels worlds away from the bustle of the boardwalk.
Adrenaline junkies make a beeline for the Cliff Dive, which sends you five stories down in just three seconds. The six-lane Wipeout! slide is perfect for group racing. Families with smaller kids will appreciate Bonsai Beach, a dedicated playground packed with water jets, climbing ropes, and child-sized slides. Adults seeking a slower pace can unwind at the Hot Springs Spa or grab a drink at the Water Lilies Swim Up Bar — one of the few swim-up bars on the Jersey Shore.
Address: 2501 Boardwalk (Surfside Pier), Wildwood, NJ 08260
Season: Summer only · Admission includes Raging Waters
4. Breakwater Beach
Seaside Heights Boardwalk
Set right on a pier in the heart of Seaside Heights, Breakwater Beach is consistently praised for one thing above all else: cleanliness. With over a dozen attractions and stunning ocean views in every direction, it’s one of the most polished water parks on the Shore.
Racers flock to Patriot’s Plunge, while Revere’s Wild Ride delivers high-speed twists and the Minuteman Express offers a buddy tube ride for something a bit more relaxed. A lazy river, wave pool, and hot tubs next to a bar give everyone a way to unwind. The biggest thrill? A 50-foot vertical slide with a trap door that drops you without warning. Lighthouse Cove keeps little ones busy with kiddie slides and a multilevel playground anchored by the 800-gallon Nantucket Bucket. The interactive Revolutionary Wild River — loaded with water cannons and fountains — is a crowd favorite for all ages.
Keep in mind that Breakwater Beach admission is separate from Casino Pier, which uses a credit system for its amusement rides. Plan accordingly if you’re doing both.
Address: 800 Ocean Terrace, Seaside Heights, NJ 08751
Season: Memorial Day – mid-September
5. Runaway Rapids
Keansburg Amusement Park
Part of the beloved Keansburg Amusement Park complex, Runaway Rapids is a classic Shore water park with over two dozen attractions and a relaxed, nostalgia-tinged vibe that keeps families coming back year after year. Admission is separate from the amusement park, and a Dry Spectator Ticket is available for anyone who wants to watch without getting wet.
The attraction list is broad: a lazy river, multiple water slides, a tipping bucket, and interactive play areas for kids. Little ones enjoy the splash pool and the Water Mushroom feature, while the Nestea Plunge — where you swing on a rope before diving in — is a perennial hit with older kids. Adults who need a warmup (or a cooldown) gravitate toward the heated spa pool at Lost Lagoon and the warming pool in Comfort Cove. Multiple snack bars, lockers, changing rooms, and picnic pavilions mean you can settle in for the long haul.
Address: 275 Beachway Avenue, Keansburg, NJ 07734
Season: Late May – early September
6. OC Waterpark
Ocean City Boardwalk
Right on the Ocean City boardwalk, OC Waterpark blends classic water park fun with a few surprises you won’t find anywhere else on the Shore. It’s designed with families in mind, though there’s more here for adventurous adults than first-time visitors might expect.
Younger guests make for the pirate-themed Lil’ Buc’s Bay playground with its pirate ship and water features. Older riders take on the Serpentine Body Slide and the plunging Splashdown slide. The lazy river and the Sky Pond Journey — which carries you to a pond that hovers above the park — offer something uniquely different. Beyond the water: OC Air Jumpers launch riders 25 feet into the air, and the 35-foot OC Adventure Peak climbing wall offers five different challenges. Mini-golf rounds out a day that goes well beyond just water slides.
Open from late June through Labor Day, so plan accordingly if you’re visiting early in the summer.
Address: 728 Boardwalk, Ocean City, NJ 08826
Season: Late June – Labor Day
7. Land of Make Believe & Pirate’s Cove
Hope, NJ · Inland Day Trip
Not every great NJ water park is on the Shore — and Pirate’s Cove at The Land of Make Believe is proof. Located inland in Hope, NJ, this pirate-themed water park is frequently cited by visitors as the highlight of their entire trip. Best of all, water park admission is included with the amusement park ticket.
Walk the plank at Pirate’s Plunge, race a friend down the dual slides of Pirate’s Escape and Pirate’s Revenge, or climb aboard the life-size Blackbeard’s Pirate Ship with its own waterslides. The 1,000-gallon dumping bucket at Blackbeard’s Pirate Fort brings squeals from kids of every age. Little ones can wade in America’s largest wading pool. The Sidewinder — a four-story drop that’s the only slide of its kind in the tri-state area — is the park’s signature thrill.
Hours: weekends Memorial Day through the third week of June, then daily through Labor Day.
Address: 354 Great Meadows Road (Route 611), Hope, NJ 07844
Season: Weekends from Memorial Day, then daily through Labor Day
8. Island Waterpark — Atlantic City
Atlantic City Boardwalk
Island Waterpark at The Showboat Hotel is the largest indoor beachfront water park in the world — and it’s right here in New Jersey. Opened in 2023 and covering 120,000 square feet with a retractable glass roof, it’s the only water park on this list that operates year-round, making it a go-to option when Jersey Shore boardwalk parks are closed for the off-season.
The park features 11 waterslides, a lazy river, a 10,300-square-foot splash pad, and a surf simulator pool. Adults have a dedicated escape at the Paradise Island area with its own pool and swim-up lounge. Four restaurants and three bars mean you won’t need to leave for meals. The connected Showboat Hotel makes it easy to turn a day trip into an overnight stay.
A note on pricing: day passes tend to be on the higher side compared to Shore boardwalk parks. Check the official website for current rates and any seasonal deals before visiting.
