Discounts are also available for Senior Citizens aged 65 years and older. Active and retired military personnel and their dependents are free (with appropriate documentation). Beach control operations are located on the Boardwalk at Kearney Avenue from the North Beach office.

Protected Beaches

The Seaside Heights Beach stretches between Hiering Avenue and Dupont Avenue. Seaside Heights provides seasonal lifeguard services between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day from 10am to 5pm, weather permitting. The public may enter the ocean and swim at protected areas only when lifeguards are present. Lifeguard stands are located on the ocean beach at most streets except Sherman Avenue, Grant Avenue and Porter Avenue. The bay beach lifeguard stand is located bayside approximately 100’ south of the Stewart’s Root Beer concession. Occasionally, the number of lifeguard stands may be reduced and visitors will be instructed to swim only at protected areas. Beach Patrol Headquarters is located at South Beach on the Boardwalk and a North Beach substation is located on the Boardwalk at Kearney Avenue.

Beach Accessible Wheelchairs

A limited number of beach accessible wheelchairs are available for free on a first come basis.  They are available at the two beach badge sales booths:  South Beach (one block north of Franklin Ave), and North Beach (across from Kohrs, between Fremont Ave & Hancock Ave).  Accessible ramps from the Boardwalk to the beach are near the two booths.

Comfort Stations

There are restrooms available on the boardwalk at Hiering, Kearney, and Webster Avenues. Hot showers (with lockers) and changing rooms are available, for a small fee, at the Hiering Ave Building and Boardwalk Beach Control Building.

Beach Vehicle Permits

Beach vehicle permits for Seaside Heights Beach can be obtained at the Beach Control Office, located at the south end of the boardwalk near Hancock Avenue. Permits are required for driving on the beach and grant access to designated areas for off-road vehicles. It’s essential to display the permit visibly on the vehicle and adhere to all rules and regulations, including staying within designated driving zones and observing speed limits for a safe beach driving experience.

Additional Seaside Heights Beach Rules

In addition to surf chair locations and beach vehicle permits, Seaside Heights Beach has specific rules and guidelines for visitors’ safety and enjoyment. Beachgoers are required to dispose of trash in designated bins along the beach and boardwalk to maintain cleanliness. Swimming should be limited to marked areas and under lifeguards’ supervision for water safety. Pets are not allowed on the beach from May 15th to September 15th, and alcohol consumption is prohibited on the beach at all times. These rules help ensure a family-friendly atmosphere and preserve the beach’s natural beauty for all to enjoy.
