Beach Tag Information

Beach tags are mandatory for all beachgoers aged 12 and above.  Tags can be purchased for weekly and seasonal needs and do come discounted if purchased before May 31.   Seniors (65 & over) can purchase discounted beach tags and Free seasonal tags are available to veterans and active military members.  Physical beach tags can be purchased at the Martin Bloom Pavilion, located at Granville Ave & the beach or through the My Beach Mobile app.

Protected Beaches

Margate beaches are lifeguard protected from Memorial Day through Labor Day.  All guarded bathing beaches are open from 10am until 6pm on each day of operation.  The city also offers guarded beaches past Labor Day when the weather permits.  Check with Beach Patrol Headquarters as to which beaches are protected at different points of the season.

Beginning the end of June through Labor Day, the following beaches are typically protected Daily from 10am to 6pm.  Argyle Ave, Clermont Ave, Gladstone Ave, Huntington Ave, Jerome Ave, Osborne Ave, Thurlow Ave, Vendome Ave, Ceder Grove, Washington Ave, Jefferson Ave, Monroe Ave. 

Accessible Beaches

The following beaches are legally handicapped accessible.  Beaches:  Andover Ave, Huntington Ave, Osborne Ave, Jefferson Ave.  Transportation is also available over the dunes for those with physical challenges by calling 609-517-5245.  This service is first come, first serve and is only for those who do not require specialized medical equipment for transport.   Many other beaches have mats on the beach to improve mobility while wheeling over the sand. Those Beaches are Barclay Ave, Clarendon Ave, Clermont Ave, Douglas Ave, Exeter Ave, Iroquios Ave, Kenyon Ave, Rumson Ave, Thurlow Ave, Vendome Ave, Decatur Ave, Adams Ave, Madison Ave, Coolidge Ave.

Surf Chair Locations

Margate City offers convenient surf chair locations to ensure that everyone can enjoy the beach, regardless of mobility challenges. These surf chairs are specially designed to navigate the sand and provide access to the water’s edge, allowing individuals with disabilities to experience the joy of beach activities. Visitors can find surf chair locations at designated beach entrances, equipped with ramps and accessible facilities nearby, making it easy for everyone to relax and have fun by the ocean. Brunswick Ave, Huntington Ave, Knight Ave, Thurlow Ave, Madison Ave, and Decatur Ave.

Comfort Stations

Bathrooms are located at Huntingdon Avenue (Bloom Pavilion), Clarendon Avenue, Benson Avenue (Greenhouse), Quincy Avenue, and Madison Ave.

Margate City has specific rules in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable beach experience for all visitors. Some of these rules include proper disposal of trash in designated bins to keep the beach clean, respecting marked swimming areas and lifeguards’ instructions for water safety, and observing restrictions on pets during certain times of the year to maintain a comfortable environment for everyone. Additionally, beachgoers are reminded to avoid fires, alcohol, and glass containers on the beach to uphold a family-friendly atmosphere and preserve the natural beauty of Margate City’s beaches.
