Belmar Beach Info

Belmar strives to offer the cleanest and healthiest beach environment for residents and visitors. The 7th Avenue Beach was ranked the highest in New Jersey in the “Testing the Waters” Report done by the Natural Resources Defense Council. Our beach staff cleans and grooms the beaches every morning, and we strictly enforce restrictions that prohibit smoking on the beaches and boardwalk.

Beach Tags

Beach badges are required for admission to Belmar’s beaches from: 9am – 5pm Weekdays and 9am -6pm (Friday, Saturday, Sunday including holidays beginning Memorial Day weekend). There are fees for daily badges and seasonal badges for beachgoers aged 14 and up. Children aged 13 and under are free and senior citizens, aged 65 and over with identification verifying age and disabled individuals who meet the disability criteria are offered discounted badges. Belmar also offers FREE beach admission to active members of the military and their families, and Star Family members and veterans through “Operation: Thank You.” Badge sales booths are located every few blocks along the boardwalk, located at 3rd, 8th, 11th, 14th, 16th, and 19th Avenues and at the Beach Office (located at 5th and Ocean Avenues inside the Taylor Pavilion).

Protected Beaches

  • Lifeguards are on duty between the hours of 9am and 5:30pm on the weekdays, and between the 9am and 6pm on the weekends. Stands are typically located at 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21st Avenues.
  • Boogie boards are permitted on 7th, 14th, and 20th Avenues.
  • Surfboards are permitted on 17th and 18th Avenues.

Beach Accessibility

Handicapped accessible parking spaces are located along the boardwalk, closest to each beach entrance. Handicap parking is free in handicap parking spaces only as long as the handicap placard is visible or if you have a handicapped license plate.

Belmar Beaches

Comfort Stations

Bathrooms are open beginning May 1st. Last day of operation for the season will be in October, dependent on weather. Opening/Closing times prior to Memorial Day weekend may vary. Port-o-johns may be available at select locations during the off season. Beach Bathrooms are open from 7:30am to 7:00pm Monday through Thursday and 7:30am to 9:30pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Bathroom Locations: 3rd, 6th, 8th, 11th, 16th and 19th. There are no bathhouses or changing rooms located at the beach. There are outdoor showers and foot showers located at each beachfront entrance where you can rinse off.

Grilling and bonfires are not permitted on the beach. Food and drinks are permitted on the beach, however, alcohol and/or glass bottles are not allowed.
